Discus thrower Siositina Hakeai has been added to New Zealand's squad for the Commonwealth Games, although she will have an asterisk next to her name. The 23-year-old's inclusion is conditional on throwing a distance of 59.30m in at least one of four competitions taking place prior to March 10. A five-time national discus champion, Hakeai has already represented New Zealand at one Commonwealth Games, finishing fourth in 2014. The 23-year-old from the Auckland has a personal best of 59.81m, ranking her third on the all-time New Zealand women's discus list behind 1997 world champion Beatrice Faumuina.
