As many as 200,000 single-journey tickets were retained by passengers, triggering a ticket shortageAuthorities have set up collection boxes at metro rail stations across Dhaka in an effort to retrieve the 200,000 single-journey tickets that were not returned by passengers. On Oct 14, Abdur Rouf, the managing director of DMTCL, revealed that around 200,000 tickets for one-way trips were retained by metro rail users. Two boxes have been placed at the Agargaon station by the ticket machine operator to facilitate the return of the tickets. Authorities have installed 32 boxes, placing two at each of the 16 metro rail stations, according to DMTCL MD Rouf.
