Devotees Go On Padayatra to Palani for Thai Poosam – Hindu Press International


TAMIL, NADU, INDIA, January 28, 2026 (The Hindu): Thousands of devotees from various parts of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni and Sivaganga districts are on padayatra (pilgrimage on foot) towards Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani for the Thai Poosam festival which is scheduled on February 1. Arrangements are being made by officials for the smooth conduct of the Thai Poosam festival. Thai Poosam festival at Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan, began with the hoisting of the holy flag at Periyanayaki Amman Temple on January 26. The holy flag was hoisted amidst the chanting of hymns and special pujas were conducted to the Deity and the kodimaram (flag mast). On the following day, Thai Poosam will be celebrated.
