OPINION: It is heartening to see that the Government has taken the first steps in reversing the destruction of RNZ Concert proposed by the RNZ Board of Governors. We see a properly funded RNZ Concert as an important part of New Zealand's infrastructure. Destroying RNZ Concert isn't correcting an imbalance, but creating a new one. I cannot help but wonder whether the RNZ board has forgotten its core mission in pursuit of a shiny object. RNZ Concert doesn't just play music, it is a forum, a platform, a space for community enlightenment and thoughtful reflection and curation.
