Despair and joy for IndyCar champ Scott Dixon in California

A disastrous final pit stop cost New Zealand IndyCar star Scott Dixon at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Dixon eventually had to settle for third in California on Monday (NZT). Series leader Josef Newgarden finished second and Dixon lamented not being able to get the better of him. "I think we would have had a good fight for second," Dixon said as he digested the frantic finish that came on top of his refuelling issues, a rare mistake by his support crew. Newgarden is top of the table with 166 points, Rossi is second with 138 and Dixon third with 133.
