Around 6:50am on Wednesday, the 11 Sindhur-Provati train left Kishoreganj for Dhaka, when its engine got derailed as the train arrived at the Manikkhali train station, confirmed Harendra Babu, assistant station master of Kishoreganj station and AKM Kamruzzaman, station master of Bhairab junction. At the time of filing this report, a relief train from Bhairab had been brought to the spot to carry the derailed train to Bhairab and attach a new engine to it, our Kishoreganj correspondent said. The station masters are hopeful regular rail communication will be restored and the train will soon reach Dhaka.
