THE Department of Education (DepEd) and its secretary, Leonor Briones, have posted “high” approval and awareness ratings in the latest Pulse Asia survey. Her approval ratings also rose to 78 percent from 62 percent in the last Pulse Asia survey. The survey also revealed that majority of Filipinos approved the DepEd’s decision to push through with the class opening this academic year. The survey also showed that more residents from rural areas (65 percent) agreed to open classes than did residents in urban areas (54 percent). Because the survey was made before the start of distance learning, Basilio said the challenges might influence the agency’s approval rating in succeeding surveys.
