Two students opened fire at a suburban Denver school on Tuesday, killing an 18-year-old student and wounding seven other teenagers, authorities said. The two male suspects, one adult and one juvenile, were taken into custody during a struggle when deputies swarmed STEM School Highlands Ranch minutes after the first reports of gunfire, said Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock. Several of the wounded were in critical condition at local hospitals, he said.
