Dental conference, Womad among events sharing $10m government lifeline

Womad, Homegrown, Cuba Dupa, and the Newtown Festival are among those sharing a $10 million government lifeline set up, in part, to stop events going under. Two-hundred recipients of the Domestic Events Fund were announced on Tuesday morning by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE). As well as the well-known events getting a share of the public pie, were pain, veterinarian, financial advice, and dental conferences. Wellington music festival Homegrown was days from opening when the Government slashed public gathering sizes as Covid-19 reached around New Zealand. Simon O'Connor/Stuff Taranaki’s Womad festival was one of the fund recipients (File photo).
