Delhi Police file chargesheet against 17 al Qaeda suspects


Delhi Police on Friday filed a chargesheet against 17 suspected al qaeda members, including Maulana Anzar Shah, on charges of motivating people to join the terror group in India. The special cell of the Delhi Police chargesheeted five arrested members of al Qaeda in the Indian Sub-continent (AQIS) -- Shah, Abdul Sami, Zafar Masood, Abdul Rehman and Mohammed Asif. The chargesheet was filed in the court of additional sessions judge Reetesh Singh, who fixed July 14 for the next date of hearing. Police also chargesheeted 12 other operatives who are on the run. They have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
