A person died in a remote part of the Kahurangi National Park on Tuesday. (File photo)A person has died at a remote hut in the Kahurangi National Park. A Rescue Co-ordination Centre NZ spokesman said a personal locator beacon was activated in the national park at 3.15pm on Tuesday and the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was sent to the Roaring Lion Hut. It is understood the rescue helicopter was later stood down. The five-bunk Roaring Lion Hut is located near the Tasman Wilderness Area, close to the confluence of the Roaring Lion and Beautiful rivers.
