Deanna Sgro ‘strong candidate’ despite complaints, MPP says

Controversial Liberal candidate Deanna Sgro — disciplined by the law society after 155 complaints of harassment were lodged against her staff — is a “strong candidate” who will “earn the trust” of constituents, says Economic Development Minister Steven Del Duca. Del Duca, the first elected official to speak to the media in support of Sgro since the decision by a law society panel came to light, told reporters on Friday that Sgro has “raised significant money for health care in the northwestern GTA, I know that. The people of Humber River-Black Creek will have a chance … to see what all of the candidates that are seeking to become their MPP have to offer. I know Deanna, she’s a hard worker, she believes in the community and she’s a strong candidate.”Sgro is running provincially in the riding her mother, Judy, holds federally. Under the name Deanna Lynn Natale, she was disciplined in 2013 by the Law Society of Upper Canada for professional misconduct by her staff in their work with collection agencies.
