DeMar DeRozan scores 40 again to lift Raptors past Wizards

WASHINGTON—The fan sitting in the lower bowl of the Verizon Center wasn’t one of the Toronto Raptors’ die-hard, travel-anywhere roadies. As DeMar DeRozan got hot in the second half of Wednesday’s 113-103 win over the Wizards, the D.C.-area man seated next to the press box was fully converted by the third quarter. DeRozan outduelled Washington point guard John Wall (33 points, 11 assists, five rebounds), helped the Raptors through an absolute flat line of a start to the night and lifted them to a 3-1 record, dropping a Wizards team that committed 21 turnovers to 0-3. “He’s saving possessions, he’s creating possessions, he’s creating offence and tonight he hit a three.”DeRozan was 1-for-2 from deep, making his first three this season on six overall attempts. He also had five rebounds, five assists and two steals while shooting 14-for-23.
