MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Leila De Lima on Monday reminded Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano that the audience at the Universal Periodic Review of the United Nations Human Rights Council cannot be easily fooled like "paid trolls in cyberspace." “Cayetano’s audience this time is not a cyberspace inhabited by paid trolls and a bureaucracy made up of Duterte sycophants, but independent-minded envoys who are perfectly aware of the human rights situation in the Philippines. This will include alleged human rights violations in relation to the so-called war on drugs. "Human rights issues were raised by various sectors not just in this administration," Cayetano said in a released statement. Prior to her detainment, she chaired the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights and led the investigation into drug-related deaths.
