MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — A senior commander of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters was killed while seven soldiers were slightly injured in a spate of firefights in Datu Salibo town on Sunday. The group boasts of loyalty to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Senior members of the municipal peace and order council in Datu Salibo in Maguindanao province confirmed Khalid's death. Local officials said two of the four wounded BIFF bandits were hit in the lower torso by Army snipers. “There is no truth to circulating stories purporting he was killed by soldiers,” Mama said in Filipino.
