Parents and parents-to-be will be offered strategies for safe sleeping practices for their baby in Timaru on Safe Sleep Day. In an effort to prevent the devastating heartache of losing a baby to SUDI, the second Safe Sleep Day, on Friday, is being held to raise awareness and educate parents on safe sleeping strategies. She urged parents to talk to their midwife about the best sleep space for their baby. "We are working to encourage women to stop smoking and stay smoke free." The Pregnant Mama - Stop Smoking Incentive Programme offered financial incentives to women if they stayed smoke free throughout the programme and four weeks after the baby was born.
