A MAN who has gone on trial for the murder of David Douglas nearly five years ago was "the person who literally pulled the trigger", the Special Criminal Court has heard. Mr Gillane said that David Douglas (55) ran the Shoestown shop owned by his partner in the south-inner city where he was known to the locals. "Loud bangs were heard described as sounding like fireworks and a male was then observed running from the premises," Mr Gillane told the court. He said the other male was Freddie Thompson (41), who has previously convicted of the murder of David Douglas. Mr Gillane said that the back seat passenger was Mr Canavan and that the men's clothing as well as the interior of the car smelled of petrol.
