Some hereditary chiefs oppose the pipeline, and the majority of elected chiefs and councils support the pipeline, along with the hereditary chiefs. Some of the hereditary chiefs who oppose it, or the 20 First Nations chiefs and councils along with the hereditary chiefs who support the pipeline? The elected chiefs and councils and hereditary chiefs need to sort out amongst themselves who has governance in their territory. Do we side with the majority of hereditary chiefs who support the pipeline, or the minority of hereditary chiefs who oppose the pipeline? We can look to the agreement between Six Nations Confederacy chiefs and elected chiefs and council as an example.
