more-inThe open drains posing danger to pedestrians in various parts of the city are back in focus following the death of a 45-year old man who fell into an open drain in a bylane near Kuravankonam junction on Sunday night. On many roads, drains, some as deep as 5 feet remain open as slabs are either absent or damaged. This issue cannot be solved just by the city Corporation alone. The city Corporation will be holding a meeting with minor irrigation officials on Tuesday to discuss the issue. “We currently have around 80 projects for constructing new drains and to cover existing ones in various parts.
