The Indian mega-hit Dangal continued its history-making run in China this past weekend, adding $5.05 million (Rs. 32.8 crore) in box office receipts to push its domestic Chinese cume to a phenomenal $180 million, and its worldwide total to $296 million. Prior to this year, the biggest box office total an Indian film had ever collected was the $120 million worldwide earned by the 2014 spiritual comedy PK. 2 ($100.6 million in China), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales ($162.3 million) and Wonder Woman ($70.2 million). That would also place it within a hair’s breadth of another major milestone, a $300 million lifetime worldwide total gross.
