The McBarge will soon be resurrected – this time, as a deep sea museum. The famous floating McDonalds, built for Expo 86 and which has been unused for about three decades, will be turned into the Deep Discovery Centre by the barge’s owner Howard Meakin. RelatedThe inside of the 57-metre-long barge has been gutted and will feature submersibles, deep sea artifacts and a movie theatre. It will take up about 15,400 square feet, and feature a 4,000-sq.-ft. rooftop. A crowdfunding campaign will be launched to help fund parts of the museum’s development, including the possibility of offering visitors submersible rides.
