DOTr assailed over traffic planThe chairman of the House Committee on Transportation slammed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for turning out to be a laggard and for performing below par in trying to match the urgency of addressing the paralyzing effects of the worsening traffic crisis. Sarmiento said the DOTr had no “reorganization plan in mind” while it failed to propose projects that will be protected from court orders that tend to slow down the implementation of traffic projects and infrastructure. He also lamented DOTr’s failure to propose negotiation procedures for the projects that will be exempted from public bidding. We also found out that the traffic crisis is not all over the Philippines or in some unknown areas. The traffic crisis is in Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and perhaps Davao City,” he said.
