Dry run for ‘no-window hour’ starts todayThe three-day dry run for the scrapping of the “no-window hour” rule of the number-coding scheme covering four major thoroughfares starts today, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday. The MMD said full implementation of the no-window hour takes effect on October 17.Motorists caught violating the traffic policy will receive a traffic violation ticket with a corresponding P300 fine. As of now, the no-window hours will be imposed on Epifaniodelos Santos Avenue, C5 Road, Alabang-Zapote Road, and Roxas Boulevard. During the dry run on October 12-14, Highway Patrol Group members and MMDA traffic enforcers will conduct an information drive about the new traffic measure among motorists. NeomieRecio, MMDA Traffic Engineering Center, said they expect 18-20 percent reduction in vehicle volume with the removal of the window hours.
