MANILA, Philippines — Employees in the private sector who will work on Labor Day will get paid twice their regular daily wages, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said. In a statement Wednesday, the labor department said pay rules for the regular holiday was contained in Labor Advisory No. 555 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte which declared May 1, 2019, as a regular holiday for the observance of Labor Day. ADVERTISEMENTUnder the pay rules, an employee who did not work shall be paid 100 percent of his or her salary for that day. However, if the employee worked on the holiday, he or she shall be paid 200 percent of his or her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours.
