Share TweetBy Martin SadongdongPhilippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde dispelled rumors Wednesday that some police officers at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were engaged in partisan politics. Gen. Amador Corpus, CIDG director, is running for a congressional seat in the May 13 elections. Albayalde said it was “coincidence” that Corpus is the current director of the CIDG and his wife is a congressional candidate. “The CIDG being the premier investigative unit of the PNP remains non-partisan and does not patronize any political party nor support specific political candidate,” he said in a statement.
