MANILA, Philippines — A total of 6,735 healthcare workers in the Philippines have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) the Department of Health’s (DOH) said in its latest data released on Friday. The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among medical frontliners was due to the 80 additional infections the DOH reported on Wednesday, August 26. ADVERTISEMENTOf the 6,735 COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers, 6,070 have already recovered, including 36 new recoveries. The DOH also reported 40 deaths among medical workers because of COVID-19. On August 27, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country surpassed 205,000.
