Half the world's population is affected by dengue and Eliza tests are the most authentic means to detect the virus. But most suspected dengue patients do not undergo Eliza tests. "Acting Chief Justice Jyotirmay Bhattacharya then asked Dutta how many suspected dengue patients had undergone Eliza tests in government hospitals this year. After consulting state director of health service Biswaranjan Satpathy , who was present in court, Dutta said: "More than 1.3 lakh patients underwent Eliza tests in government hospitals." "Only a positive Eliza test can be treated as a genuine dengue case," the advocate-general submitted.
