GEORGE TOWN: A DAP volunteer tasked with keeping an eye on social media posts was arrested after sharing a video clip which allegedly tarnishes the image of Pakatan Harapan. Jeffrey Chew, the state DAP assistant treasurer, was arrested on Wednesday under the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The arrest was made after Penang Island City councillor Grace Teoh filed a police report on Monday stating that she saw the video after Chew shared it on the Penang DAP general elections WhatsApp chat group. Rayer said he hoped the police would find the culprit who created the video instead of charging Chew, who merely posted the video in the party’s chat group to raise a fake news alarm. “I only alerted the state DAP group of the video and did not share it around,” he said.
