Cyclone Amphan: Armed Forces begin post-disaster activities in affected areas


Bangladesh Army is now coordinating with local civilian administration of the affected areas to determine the overall damage caused by the cyclone as a part of their post-disaster activities. As many as 146 disaster management teams with special equipment are ready for deployment at short notice. Meanwhile, two ships of Bangladesh Navy have left the Chittagong Naval Jetty to provide relief to the cyclone-hit districts of Bhola and Hatia. A number of aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force have also taken part in the post-disaster response for cyclone Amphan across the country. Moreover, Bangladesh Air Force has readied a total of seven transport aircraft, 29 helicopters and set up a disaster management cell at the Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar in Tejgaon, to conduct post-disaster activities.
