Peter Jenkins was "doing what he loved and lived for" before his bike collided with a vehicle on State Highway 1 near Manakau, north of Ōtaki. Jenkins, from Manakau, died at the scene. On its Facebook page, the Levin Cycling Club said the club's members and families were mourning Jenkins' death.
