The ransomware attack on the HSE patient systems on Friday morning was a 'terror attack', Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú said. The Louth Sinn Féin TD, who is a member of the Oireachtas Transport and Communications Committee, said the attack, which has taken down inpatient systems across the HSE, is 'an utterly criminal act against the health service'. Deputy Ó Murchú said that, as a member of the Oireachtas committee, he has spoken about 'the need to deal with the overall issue of cybersecurity'. He said: 'What happened overnight was a terror attack on the State. He added: 'All of our Covid 19 testing sites are open as usual this week, dates and times of HSE testing centres are available online.
