The port reiterated that all imported goods shall be subject to duties and taxes, according to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. “Failure to declare any goods whether intentional or unintentional shall subject the traveler to pay a 30-percent surcharge based on the total landed cost of the goods,” it said. Any amount more than that must be declared in a foreign currency declaration form before a Customs officer.
