Once Comm Abdul Hamid takes over as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Deputy Inspector General and Special Branch director position will be vacant. Abdul Hamid is expceted to take charge of the force for two years, starting May 4. "The years of experience under his belt will guide Abdul Hamid, as he shoulders this new responsibility," he said. Before being named the new IGP, Abdul Hamid was the director of the force's Special Branch and is currently acting deputy IGP.
