Cocaine worth £500,000 that was allegedly being smuggled on a cruise ship by a British couple in their seventies was intended for gangs in London, police sources believe. Roger and Susan Clarke, who live on the Costa Blanca in southeastern Spain, were arrested last week when the ship they were on docked in Lisbon towards the end of a month-long cruise to the Caribbean. Police found 9kg of the Class A drug hidden in secret compartments of four suitcases. They believe the drugs were picked up when the ship was in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. Portuguese police allege that the couple, who paid the equivalent of about £2,700 each for the cruise, were acting as couriers and claim they intended to bring the cocaine…
