A number of assemblies on water safety have been taking place this week as part of Drowning Prevention Week. This week, sessions have been taking place at schools included Dedworth Middle School and Cox Green School, and Windsor and Braywick Leisure Centre. The force added families should encourage children to go along to Braywick or Windsor leisure centres, where there are always lifeguards on duty and they can swim safely. The message comes after TVP said it is already seeing reports of youngsters jumping into open water. A Royal Life Saving Society UK video has also been shared on the water safety code, which forms the ‘fundamental spine’ of all water safety education.
