Hazmat crews are working to contain and clean up a mysterious spill that has turned a Burlington creek white. The creek, which runs parallel to Martha Street in downtown Burlington and empties into Lake Ontario, is covered with a white substance. Hazmat crews, along with the City of Burlington, have deployed booms and bales of straw in the creek in a effort to contain the milky-coloured substance. An industrial sized vacuum truck is on scene along the popular Centennial Bikeway trail, just south of New Street attempting to vacuum up the spill. Crews on scene were unable to say what the substance was, but say they expected to be on scene well into the night cleaning up the spill.
