Fire crews on the North Shore staged a number of exercises this week in preparation for this year's wildfire season. Dorit Mason, the director of North Shore Emergency Management, says fire prevention is everyone's responsibility. The District of North Vancouver and North Shore emergency management tested a number of scenarios including a simulated evacuation in order to evaluate response times and coordination across different agencies in an emergent wildfire situation. North Vancouver District Mayor Richard Walton says evacuations can be very challenging and the understanding and cooperation of residents is important.
