Crews battle Saskatchewan wildfires that have forces thousands from their homes

PELICAN NARROWS, Sask. — Saskatchewan continues to pour resources into fighting wildfires near remote communities northeast of Saskatoon that have forced more than 2,400 people from their homes. The government says almost 300 firefighters are working with a fleet of helicopters to protect the Pelican Narrows area. Steve Roberts, executive director of wildfire management, says the worry continues to be hot, dry weather. “That creates a very dynamic situation for Pelican Narrows,” he said Tuesday.
