Crash kills 30 passengers en-route to SAFrom MERCY MUJURU in Mvuma, ZimbabweMVUMA, (CAJ News) – AT least 30 passengers were killed on Thursday (yesterday) when a South Africa-bound bus was involved in an accident with a haulage truck. The horrific crash occurred in Mvuma, over 200 kilometres south-east of the capital Harare when the trick sideswiped the bus, which later caught fire and killed the passengers on the spot. Most of the victims, mainly women, were burnt beyond recognition while 30 managed to escape the blazing bus through emergency windows. “I suspect the haulage truck might have misjudged the distance between his cargo haulage truck and the space with the oncoming bus, resulting in the sideswiping,” she said. A high number of accidents are recorded in the route to South Africa where hundreds travel daily to buy wares or seek refuge.
