Long serving Waitara councillor Craig McFarlane is to be appointed deputy mayor of New Plymouth district. Newly elected mayor Neil Holdom said McFarlane had three terms as councillor and had served the Waitara community for more than 40 years. "I am delighted to appoint him as my deputy mayor," he said. McFarlane owns McFarlane Motors in Waitara and in the previous term he was chairman of the monitoring committee.
