'Covid downgrading' of Athlone NDLS offices made permanentJunior Transport Minister Hildegarde Naughten has confirmed that the temporary Covid downgrading of all National Driving Licence Service (NDLS) offices across the state, including the local offices in Athlone and Mullingar, has now been made permanent. Appointments must now be made online and there is no walk-in service available. He rang his wife for card details but that would not be accepted as his wife was not present. The TD’s office rang the NDLS and spent 45 minutes waiting but nobody answered. Deputy McNamara insisted that the NDLS was “blackguarding the elderly” by the service being provided.
