The UK is set to begin its first human challenge trial to test Covid-19 treatments and vaccines in January 2021. The first study phase will test the smallest amount of virus it takes to cause infection in up to 90 healthy young volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 years, who are at the lowest risk of harm from Covid-19, a paper published in The Lancet notes. The study will take place in the high-level isolation unit of the Royal Free Hospital, London, UK.
