The reality is that, like most countries, the Philippines is in all likelihood hardly making a dent in the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Vergeire, “more than 19,000” people have undergone testing for Covid-19. The number of positive cases represent 15.58 percent of the number of people tested, and the fatality rate so far is 4.65 percent of positive cases, or 0.725 percent of the number of people tested. The obvious problem with all of these figures is that the population of the Philippines is justa bit higher than 19,864 people. An additional disturbing piece of evidence that the overall number of infections may be much higher than current statistics indicate.
