Covid-19: Two quarantine and treatment centres opened in Klang Valley to deal with possible surge

PUTRAJAYA: Two Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres with a capacity of 20 beds each have been opened at the Putrajaya Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang as part of preparations to face any possible surge in Covid-19 cases. "Some 99.5% of Covid-19 patients now are in categories one, which is asymptomatic and category two or mildly symptomatic, while there is a drop in admissions of patients in categories three, four and five. Dr Noor Hisham said the quarantine centres were set up by the Health Ministry in collaboration with Mercy Malaysia, which provided equipment such as tents to accommodate patients if there was an increase in cases. MAEPS was activated as a quarantine centre on April 16, 2020, with the intake of Covid-19 patients only involving non-citizen patients in categories one and two. MAEPS 2.0 was officially closed on Feb 8, 2022, and during the 14 months of operation, a total of 166,072 Covid-19 patients were treated there.
