People flocked to Mt Hutt ski field on Saturday to enjoy the first weekend back in alert level 2 for the country – though Auckland remains in level 4 lockdown. Fears are growing that alert level 2 will continue next week, with one business organisation calling the current rules ridiculous and disappointing. But Stuff was told by staff at several retail businesses at The Colombo mall that trade was quiet on Saturday morning. Last week experts said they didn’t believe the Government would shift the rest of New Zealand to level 1 until Auckland moves out of level 4. Covid-19 modelling expert Professor Michael Plank said the rest of New Zealand would likely move to alert level 1 once Auckland started going down the alert levels.
