A district and sessions court on Friday issued orders to decide defamation suit filed by Ali Zafar against Meesha Shafi by April 15, 2019. Last year, Singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar had filed a defamation suit against pop star Meesha Shafi who had publicly accused him of sexual harassment. Zafar had filed a plea last week through his counsel before an additional district and sessions court, seeking disposal of his defamation suit against Shafi in one month. The suit, claiming damages of Rs1 billion, was filed under the Defamation Ordinance 2002. In April 2018, Meesha Shafi had taken to Twitter to publicly accuse Zafar of physically harassing her on “more than one occasion”.
