The High court has temporarily stopped the Ethics and Anti corruption commission (EACC) from pursuing a case against 11 Turkana county tender committee members. Lawyer Nyachoti had told the court that EACC officers threatened and demanded tender documents relating to construction work that was being undertaken by the county government. He told the court that the documents being demanded from the committee members were confiscated by the EACC officers last year, meaning they did not have the documents as asked. He said that from the submission of lawyer Philip Nyachoti, appearing for the tender committee members, it was clear that the judicial review application must be heard first before a ruling. Justice Steven Riech, in a ruling on Monday, said the intended prosecution of the group should be put on hold.
