PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal here has dismissed an appeal by local singer Shila Amzah (pic) against an entertainment reporter and two others over allegedly defamatory articles published in a Malay daily three years ago. It upheld the High Court decision which dismissed her lawsuit on March 31. Justice Wong instructed Shila and her company Shila Amzah Entertainment Bhd to each pay RM20,000 in costs to the three respondents – Kosmo! In her judgement, Justice Rosnaini said the court also found that the article published by Kosmo! The court also ruled that as a celebrity, Shila, whose real name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah, must be open to criticism.
