Court hears of woman’s meth spiral

Melissa Adair Vos, 47, appears for sentencing in the Christchurch District Court on multiple charges after becoming addicted to meth. Twenty-nine convictions chart a middle-aged woman's descent into meth addiction and crime after a life with no offending at all. Melissa Adair Vos, 48, was granted home detention by Judge Tom Gilbert at her Christchurch District Court sentencing on Friday. He told Vos: "The explanation for how someone at your age and with your history can get involved in this, is essentially methamphetamine. Judge Gilbert said Vos had received a positive pre-sentence report and noted her rehabilitative efforts.
