Court grants 8-day remand for ‘Rajib Gandhi’A court in Dhaka granted an eight-day remand to interrogate Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, another suspected mastermind of Gulshan terror attack.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan granted the remand to interrogate the Neo-JMB operative on Saturday.Earlier, an inspector of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, and also investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Rajib before the court seeking a 10-day remand for him, says UNB.Meanwhile, bdnews24.com reports, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) spokesperson Masudur Rahman said they arrested Jahangir Alam, who used to go by the alias 'Ghandi', in Tangail, some 100 km northwest from capital Dhaka, late on Friday.Details will be provided at a media call later on Saturday, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Rahman.Police had said the name Rajib Gandhi surfaced during investigations and that they came to know he served the Neo-JMB as the commander of the outfit for the Northern districts.Rajib Gandhi, who was arrested on Friday night, is believed to have played a key role in the Sholakia terror attack also.Counterterrorism Unit chief Monirul Islam told the media in September last year, "He had sent two terrorists prior to the Gulshan attack and one terrorist prior to the Sholakia attack from North Bengal, all of whom he had personally trained."
